The international dairy company, owned by over 8,400 European farmers, continues to make strides in the MENA region.

Arla Foods has submitted a non-binding offer to acquire a majority stake in the Arabian Food Industries Company (Domty), a prominent player in Egypt’s food sector. Domty, a publicly listed company, employs approximately 4,000 people and operates two production facilities in Egypt, specializing in producing a wide range of dairy and juice products. This potential acquisition aligns with Arla Foods’ strategic ambition to expand its presence in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, leveraging Domty’s established market position and production capabilities to enhance its portfolio and strengthen its footprint in the growing Egyptian market.

“Expanding into Egypt is a natural step in our journey to better serve all our MENA consumers, reinforcing our commitment to regional production and ensuring that we continue to deliver high-quality dairy products tailored to regional preferences,” says Kim Villadsen. SVP for MENA in Arla Foods

Arla Foods has submitted a non-binding offer to acquire a majority stake in Egypt’s Arabian Food Industries Company (Domty), with the company valued at 183 million USD for 100% of its shares.

”The dairy market in Egypt is substantial, Domty is a leading player in that market, and the company is well-aligned with our strategy in Egypt. We are now looking at the details before deciding whether to proceed with purchasing the business,” says Kim.

Arla Foods has a long-standing and robust presence in the Middle East and North Africa, the company’s most prominent commercial area outside Europe.

As Domty is a listed company, the non-binding offer is public information. Arla Foods has no further comments on the offer.
