Maersk Unveils New Integrated Supply Chain Hub in Senegal

The 10,000-square-metre facility sits between the Port of Dakar and the industrial zone.
In a strategic move to strengthen West Africa’s logistics landscape, Maersk has launched a cutting-edge warehouse facility in Senegal, positioning the country as a key hub in its regional supply chain expansion.
“The facility’s strategic location provides multiple benefits for customers, including proximity to end markets, manufacturing operations, and port facilities that are within a distance of 10 km. This positioning enables more efficient distribution within Senegal and facilitates cross-border transportation to neighbouring West African countries,” says an official release.
Maersk West Africa’s Managing Director stated that the investment in Senegal reflects the company’s continued long-term commitment to expanding and strengthening warehouse infrastructure across the West African region. “This investment in Dakar demonstrates our long-term commitment to Senegal and the broader West African region. By establishing this modern warehouse facility, we’re delivering on our promise to create seamless, integrated logistics solutions that enable our customers to optimise their supply chains and accelerate growth.”
Spanning 5,100 square metres of indoor space with 7,036 pallet positions, Maersk’s new warehouse in Senegal is built for scale and efficiency. It also features 500 square metres of outdoor storage, offering flexibility for different cargo types. The facility is equipped to handle a wide variety of goods, from fast-moving consumer products and retail merchandise to lifestyle items and tech equipment, making it a vital link in West Africa’s growing supply chain network according to Logistics Update Africa

The newly launched hub in Dakar further strengthens Maersk’s growing network of logistics facilities across West Africa. According to the release, the company now operates in eight countries in the region, covering more than 100,000 square metres of warehousing space. Key locations include Dakar, Abidjan, Tema, Douala, Lagos, Conakry, Lomé, and Cotonou.
