DHL Invests €500 Million to Enhance Healthcare and Logistics Infrastructure in Africa and Middle East

DHL, the world’s leading logistics provider, has unveiled plans to invest more than €500 million in the Middle East by 2030, with a sharp focus on high-growth markets such as Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to the group, this significant investment aligns with its Strategy 2030, which emphasizes scaling operations in regions benefiting from shifting global trade dynamics. It presents an opportunity to capitalize on the region’s expanding role in international commerce and to position DHL at the forefront of supply chain innovation and infrastructure development.
DHL’s upcoming investment will span all four of its major business divisions—DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Supply Chain, and DHL eCommerce. It’s a strategic step aimed at strengthening the region’s logistics foundation and helping the company keep pace with growing demand across the Middle East.
This region-wide commitment is set to drive the development of cutting-edge infrastructure, expand delivery and freight networks, and boost service capacity—building on DHL’s global logistics expertise to support local growth.
With services ranging from express parcel delivery and international freight to warehousing, distribution, and customs brokerage, DHL already plays a key role in keeping supply chains moving. The company also brings specialized solutions for industries like life sciences, healthcare, e-commerce, and the fast-growing battery logistics sector.
By scaling up its presence and capabilities in the Middle East, DHL is positioning itself not just as a logistics provider, but as a long-term growth partner for businesses across the region.
“The region of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is rapidly emerging as a global logistics and
innovation hub,” said John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express. “Our investment reflects the region’s
increasing strategic importance in connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa, and our commitment to
supporting its transformation into a catalyst for regional and global trade. DHL Express is seeing
dynamic growth and export potential in the region’s e-commerce sector, for example, which is
providing opportunities for entrepreneurs and smaller businesses to expand their offering to global
markets.”
Hendrik Venter, CEO of DHL Supply Chain, Europe, Middle East & Africa, added, “DHL Supply Chain has
actively expanded in Saudi Arabia and UAE in recent years, recognizing the positive economic
development, the increasing maturity and sophistication of supply chain operations in the region and
the growing demand for specialized, outsourced logistics support. With a strong focus on the energy
sector, life sciences, healthcare, and technology, we are poised to take advantage of our contract
logistics expertise to meet the unique needs of our customers and drive innovation in these critical
areas.”
