SAPICS Welcomes Mbongeni Ndlovu as General Manager

The Southern African professional body for supply chain management, SAPICS, has announced the appointment of Mbongeni Ndlovu as its new general manager, marking a significant leadership addition to the not-for-profit organisation.

Ndlovu, based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, brings more than ten years of experience spanning research, consulting and capacity building. His work has centred on issues of trade, industrialisation and supply chain development across Africa, reflecting a strong Pan-African outlook.

Beyond his technical expertise, he has established a reputation as a passionate advocate for professional development. He has led numerous executive short courses and masterclasses that convene policymakers, academics and industry leaders to explore strategies for building competitive and inclusive value chains on the continent.

Alongside his new role at SAPICS, he holds academic appointments as Illovo Academic Head of African Trade and Industrialisation at the Toyota Wessels Institute for Manufacturing Studies (TWIMS) and as an adjunct faculty member at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), University of Pretoria.

Ndlovu sees logistics and supply chain management as central to Africa’s economic transformation. He believes the profession can strengthen regional value chains, support industrialisation and unlock greater trade competitiveness. At SAPICS, his focus will be on building a strong professional community, nurturing a pipeline of future supply chain talent and elevating the profile of the profession as a driver of economic growth and regional integration.

Commenting on the appointment, SAPICS president Thato Moloi said the organisation is looking forward to the direction Ndlovu will bring:

“This is an exciting time for SAPICS as we harness the renewed energy and vision that Mbongeni brings to accelerate our mission to elevate, educate and empower the community of supply chain professionals in South Africa and across the continent. We are delighted to welcome him to the team and work with him to build Africa’s supply chain future.”
